Preservation of historic Gulf American Land Corporation building architectural panels
We recently salvaged a section of the architectural panels/louvers that once covered the facade of the old Gulf American Building Land Corporation building (later the INS building) on the corner of Biscayne and 79th street in Miami’s historic Mimo district.
We felt it was important to preserve at least a little bit of the history of this iconic structure. To that end, we've mounted the salvaged section within our building for display and preservation. Along with the panel itself, we found two original postcards from the era that describe the building along with an image from the 60s. We've mounted the postcards alongside the panel to provide context for those viewing the pieces.
We’re very pleased with the end result.
